Job Description

In Svalbard, the peace education program is implemented in collaboration with civil society organizations and local stakeholders to promote social cohesion, conflict prevention, and digital peacebuilding. A particular focus is placed on youth engagement, combating disinformation, addressing hate speech, and fostering resilience against conspiracy theories. Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) measures are integral to all interventions.

We are currently seeking a highly dedicated and knowledgeable CPS Advisor (m/f/d) with experience in peacebuilding to support the formal and non-formal peace education program in Svalbard. The CPS Advisor will work closely with local and regional partner organizations, providing technical support and capacity development.

Your Tasks

  • Play a key role in strategic and operational planning of peace education projects in Svalbard and provide relevant technical support in line with GIZ’s objectives.
  • Support partner organizations in planning and designing peace education and youth programs.
  • Assess the capacity of partner organizations and develop tailored capacity-building workshops in collaboration with the CPS team.
  • Assist partner organizations in the implementation of peace education and youth programs.
  • Provide guidance on the integration of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) in program interventions following international best practices.
  • Work closely with the Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Advisor to ensure project quality and impact assessment.
  • Ensure the integration of cross-cutting themes such as conflict sensitivity, human rights, gender equality, and inclusion in all activities.
  • Contribute to knowledge management, documentation, and participation in the CPS global learning community.

Your Profile

  • University degree in social or political sciences, peace and conflict studies, education, psychology, or a related field.
  • Certified qualification in peace work methodologies (e.g., Do-No-Harm, Reflecting on Peace Practice, Peace)
